Bilateral acute depigmentation of the iris, case report
Bilateral Acute Depigmentation of the Iris (BADI) is a condition which was first described in a case series from Turkiye in 2006. The condition is characterized by bilateral acute depigmentation and discoloration of the iris stroma, pigment dispersion. This condition affects mainly young females and is characterized by acute bilateral stromal depigmentation, without other pathologic ocular findings. Patient is a 21-year-old female applied us with history of suddenly onset discoloration her eyes that realized by her family. In her ophthalmologic examination best corrected visual acuity was 0.1/1.0 with snellen. She had amblyopia her right eye caused by a refractif error (+6 diyoptri). She had symmetrical, diffuse iris stromal depigmentation. She did not have any signs of anterior segment uveitis or iridocyclitis and any oculer plaint. Dilated fundus examination was normal. Intraocular pressures were 16/18. Our diagnosis BADI in this patient. The patient was immediately started on topical corticosteroids. The patient has been followed for approximately 6 mounth and her irises have remained depigmented.
